Big October Ride

The Dayboro Trailriders Club Inc. invites you to ride from the valley to the mountains, viewing the bay & islands as never before.
Catering available Friday night and all weekend.
Licensed bar (strictly NO BYO alcohol) & Entertainment Saturday night.
Rides rally at 8am for a 8:30am (sharp) departure from, and returning to, the Dayboro Showgrounds, Mt Mee Road (approx 50k Nth of Brisbane).
1 x 3hr & 1x 7hr trail ride

Registration taken on Friday Night & Saturday Morning before rides commence. Sign on closes 7:45am
Facilities include: Power, Hot Showers, Camping, Show Ring, Public Phone, yards, stalls, demountable yards, rodeo arena.
$16.00 ATHRA Member or $26.00 non ATHRA Member --> (Fees apply - based on insurance obligations. Trail rides conducted in accordance with ATHRA rules & regulations - strictly no dogs, rigs or stallions)

The inaugural Big October Ride was held on the 24th of October, 1998. The rides have been held each year since with the below number of riders taking part:-

The Big October Ride has become avidly looked forward to, each year, by riders locally and further a field. We like to extend the welcome mat and encourage as many riders as possible to come join us. Riders come from not only the Brisbane suburbs but also Ipswich; Toowoomba; Yarraman; Gympie; Maryborough; Gold Coast and even New South Wales.
Riders are able to choose from two rides. The first is a seven hour ride which treks up over the mountains, providing a spectacular view of the bay and islands. The second is a three hour ride tracking through the beautiful ranges of the Dayboro valley.
The only pre requisite is that you have your own horse and riding gear. Rides amble along at a walking pace so you don't need a heap of riding experience under your belt. It's open to riders whether they be beginners, intermediates or champions.
Oops!! With 2004's Big October Ride, we experimented by changing the ride times and trails. Unfortunately this caused unforseen problems with the duration and catering on both rides, for which we humbly apologise.
Great news!!!....... for 2006 we have stayed with our original successful formula. Both rides will once again depart the showgrounds in the morning, at 8:30am. They will begin by riding down the main street and out of town together, then splitting into the two separate rides.
Both rides depart and return to the Dayboro Show grounds (Mt. Mee Rd, Dayboro), where camping facilities, hot showers, 55 yards, 10 stalls, demountable yards, rodeo arena, show ring and public telephone are all available. Catering is available across the weekend.
After a fantastic leisurely paced day's riding, a two course dinner is available (pre booking necessary), then around 8pm the entertainment begins with a concert, raffles, bar etc.
The Big October Ride has always proved a great success. We really enjoy hosting the event and are keen to encourage as many riders as possible to come join us and experience the riding in our valley, where the footpath ends and the trail begins.....
